If you work with copper and sterling silver wires a lot, you may want this to darken and bring out details in your work. This comes in lumps which you dissolve in hot water. You should be careful not to inhale the powder, and use rubber gloves while handling it. Be careful not to get even a drop of water into the container with the dry liver of sulfur or it can ruin all of it. But once you take into account some basic safety rules, it's very easy to use and a little bit goes a long way. A pea sized drop in a half cup of water will nicely darken a few pieces of jewelry, then after it dries, you can buff off some of the darkening with steel wool to create a gorgeous contrast between the bright silver or copper and the dark recesses. Never put sterling in liver of sulfur mix that you've used copper in. It is okay to use copper after silver in liver of sulfur.
This is the kind I use. It comes in a small lightweight plastic tub sort of like a yogurt container with a nicely fitting lid.
